Personal Alchemy

Alchemy can be thought of as the search for perfection. In many ways it is based upon the Plato's ideas about form and perfect form. In the material world gold is (was) considered as a representation of perfection hence the notion of turning 'base metals' into 'gold' ?and the search for the elixir (philosophers stone) which would allow that transformation to happen.
